For rush orders: if the deadline is under 3 weeks out, budget for the premium. Acoustic tiles are far easier to expedite than PVC gypsum, so if both work functionally and time is tight, acoustic is usually the safer bet.

One last thing: verify the grid load spec before you order anything. Half the problems I've seen that looked like installation errors started with a grid mismatch. I learned that one twice.
